On April 1, during a briefing, the head of the Bashtanka District Military Administration, Vladyslav Dmytriv, announced the implementation of several significant projects aimed at ensuring energy independence in the region, with a total value of €142 million. This substantial investment reflects a serious commitment to energy efficiency in the face of contemporary challenges.

Dmytriv emphasized that last year, a decision was made to focus on energy efficiency and independence, laying the groundwork for the realization of six projects currently being implemented in the Bashtanka District. Among these initiatives, the construction of a wind power plant (WPP) in one of the local communities stands out, with an estimated cost of nearly $92 million.

In addition, Dmytriv highlighted that last year, 11 modular boiler houses were installed in educational and healthcare institutions, marking a vital step towards ensuring alternative energy supply sources. Currently, work is ongoing on six more such facilities. This is critically important given the constant shelling of energy infrastructure by enemy forces, as budgetary institutions housing large numbers of people must have reliable backup energy sources.

The Bashtanka District, which encompasses 279 populated areas, had a population of approximately 138,000 before the full-scale Russian invasion. However, during the first year of the war, the area experienced intense combat operations, with parts of it being occupied, leading to a significant exodus of residents. Currently, efforts are underway to facilitate the return of the population to their homes, and the implementation of energy independence projects is a crucial step towards restoring infrastructure and improving living conditions for local residents.

According to information provided by Dmytriv, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Mykolaiv region has received over three thousand units of energy equipment, significantly contributing to the enhancement of the region's energy resilience. This equipment helps ensure the necessary conditions for the functioning of critical facilities and institutions, which is especially relevant in wartime conditions.

Considering all these measures, the Bashtanka District is demonstrating an active approach to energy efficiency and independence, which is an important aspect of recovery and development in the face of modern challenges. The realization of such projects not only enhances energy security but also contributes to the socio-economic development of local communities.
