Once a Home: Ukrainian Armed Forces Showcase the Village of Shevchenko, 10 Kilometers from Pokrovsk

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have released a harrowing video depicting the devastating impact of war on the frontline village of Shevchenko, located just 10 kilometers north of Pokrovsk.

According to the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, the official Facebook page of the 7th Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces published a video that illustrates the terrible consequences of war in the frontline village of Shevchenko. This settlement, situated merely 10 kilometers north of Pokrovsk, was once home to residents, as noted by military personnel.

The post states: "Once, people lived here: the frontline Shevchenko, 10 km north of Pokrovsk." Soldiers from the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps showcased the deserted streets and destroyed houses of this village. They pointed out that Shevchenko is subjected to constant air and artillery shelling by Russian forces, leading to its devastation.

"Footage recorded at the end of February in this depopulated settlement conveys the atmosphere of emptiness that the enemy leaves everywhere it reaches," the military reported. They emphasized that their mission is to prevent this ruin from advancing further, protecting Ukrainian territory from additional losses.

This footage serves as yet another testament to the destructive consequences of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The military underscores that despite the relentless attacks from the adversary, they continue to fight to preserve territory and protect the population. As reported by Ukrinform, fighters from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces are holding the last lines of defense in the Luhansk region, refuting claims of a complete takeover of this territory by Russian troops.

The situation in Shevchenko is a stark example of how war affects the lives of civilians and destroys infrastructure. The military urges society not to forget these tragedies and to support them in their struggle for independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
