Turkey Engages in Negotiations to Evacuate 11 Ships from the Strait of Hormuz

Turkey is actively negotiating the evacuation of 11 ships from the Strait of Hormuz, where currently 14 vessels owned by Turkish stakeholders are located, according to the country's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu.

Turkey is continuing negotiations regarding the evacuation of 11 ships from the Strait of Hormuz, where currently 14 vessels owned by Turkish owners are located. This statement was made by Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency referencing DHA.

Uraloglu emphasized that issues in the Strait of Hormuz persist, and his ministry, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is working to determine whether it is possible to remove the vessels from this vital waterway. According to him, out of the 14 ships owned by Turkish companies, 11 are currently subject to evacuation, while the other three remain in place to carry out specific operations.

“They are there to perform certain operations — specifically, these are our energy production vessels. Negotiations are ongoing regarding the evacuation of the others. Currently, there are no possibilities for evacuation,” the minister stated.

Uraloglu also assured that there is constant communication between the Turkish side and the crews of the ships, and at present, there are no humanitarian issues. This is an important aspect, as the safety of the crews is a priority for Turkish authorities amid the regional instability.

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz is causing concern not only in Turkey but also globally. This strategic waterway is crucial for global maritime transport, as a significant portion of the world's oil and gas supplies pass through it. In light of this, it has been reported that the United Kingdom will hold a virtual meeting today involving 35 countries to discuss ways to mitigate the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.

This meeting could be a significant step in addressing issues related to maritime security in the region, as well as strengthening international cooperation to ensure stability. Turkey, as one of the countries with interests in this region, is actively involved in these negotiations, trying to protect its economic interests and ensure the safety of its vessels.

Thus, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains tense, and the subsequent actions of Turkey and the international community could significantly impact the developments in this strategic region. It is essential for all parties to adhere to the principles of international law and collaborate to achieve a peaceful resolution to conflicts.
