Cyclone Brings Rain to Ukraine: Forecasters Predict Sunny Weather for Palm Sunday, but Rain Before the Holiday

An approaching cyclone is set to bring rain to Ukraine ahead of Palm Sunday, though meteorologists are forecasting exceptionally warm and sunny weather on the day of the holiday itself. This information was shared by meteorologist Natalka Didenko on her Facebook page, where she noted that Ukrainians can expect a significant amount of sunshine and warmth on the day of celebration.

According to Didenko, the weekend of April 4-5 promises to be warm. She reported that temperatures across Ukraine will range from +12 to +19 degrees Celsius. However, in the lead-up to the holiday on Saturday, April 4, rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, is expected in the eastern regions, including Kherson, Zaporizhia, and Dnipropetrovsk. The rest of Ukraine will enjoy dry weather, allowing residents to bask in the spring sunshine.

“On Sunday, April 5, no precipitation is expected, and Ukraine will experience the kind of weather we usually anticipate for Easter—sunny and warm. However, it is important to note that a northwesterly wind will strengthen on Sunday, becoming brisk,” emphasized the expert.

Didenko also provided a detailed forecast for the capital city. “In Kyiv on April 4, there will be no precipitation, with daytime temperatures rising to +15 degrees Celsius. On Palm Sunday, the capital is expected to have wonderful weather: dry, sunny, and around +14 degrees, with a gentle northwesterly breeze,” she stated.

However, the meteorologist warned that a cold snap will arrive in Ukraine starting April 7. Next week, cold weather will dominate across the country, with a gradual drop in temperatures to daytime highs of +4 to +9 degrees Celsius, and nighttime lows potentially dipping below zero. “For now, it is warm in Ukraine, with occasional rain possible, especially in the east, along with thunderstorms, but on Palm Sunday, there will be plenty of sunshine and temperatures ranging from +12 to +19 degrees,” the expert added.
