Prices of Greenhouse Tomatoes in Ukraine Rise to 170 UAH/kg

The sale of the first batches of greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine has commenced, with local producers offering prices ranging from 150 to 170 UAH per kilogram. This marks a significant increase compared to last year's average price at the start of the season, which was 66% lower.

In Ukraine, the sale of the first batches of greenhouse tomatoes has begun, with local producers setting prices between 150 and 170 UAH per kilogram. This represents a considerable increase, as the average price at the start of the season last year was 66% lower. The rise in prices is attributed to both seasonal factors and adverse weather conditions that have impacted crop yields.

According to information published by EastFruit, this week marked the arrival of the first batches of greenhouse tomatoes in the Ukrainian market. However, despite their arrival, prices continue to climb. In 2025, the first batches of tomatoes from Ukrainian greenhouse farms were shipped on average one and a half weeks later than in the current season. This indicates that the market situation remains challenging, with crop yields remaining low due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Market experts predict that larger batches of tomatoes will not be available for shipment from greenhouse farms for at least another two weeks. This suggests that consumers may face further price increases, as the demand for fresh vegetables remains high.

Currently, the majority of the supply in the Ukrainian market consists of imported vegetables from Turkey. The prices for imported tomatoes range between 130 and 150 UAH per kilogram, depending on quality and batch sizes. Turkish tomatoes are slightly cheaper than local greenhouse products, making them more attractive to consumers.

Additionally, it is noteworthy that last week, prices for onions in Ukraine decreased. This drop occurred against the backdrop of declining onion quality and low trading activity. There has also been a decrease in prices for table beets, which may indicate general trends in the vegetable market in Ukraine.

Thus, the market for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine is experiencing a difficult period, with price increases driven by a variety of factors, including weather conditions and competition from imported products. Consumers can expect further price changes in the coming weeks, depending on the market's evolving situation.
