Prices of Cucumbers in Ukraine Drop to 165 UAH/kg

Cucumber prices in Ukraine have recently decreased to a range of 125−165 UAH per kilogram, marking a 10% decline compared to the previous week, driven by a significant increase in market supply.

Cucumbers grown in Ukrainian greenhouse complexes are currently being offered for sale at prices ranging from 125 to 165 UAH per kilogram. This decline indicates a 10% drop compared to the previous week, a change attributed to a sharp increase in the supply available in the market.

Producers of cucumbers have been compelled to gradually lower their wholesale prices due to the substantial rise in the volume of products entering the market. Market participants note that the 'declining price dynamics are linked to a significant drop in demand amidst still relatively high prices for greenhouse vegetables.' This suggests that consumers are not yet willing to pay high prices for cucumbers, regardless of their quality.

Moreover, the supply of cucumbers continues to grow rapidly, as the volumes harvested in greenhouse complexes have significantly increased due to favorable weather conditions. This allows producers to meet market demands to the fullest extent, which in turn affects pricing.

Simultaneously, the market remains stable with the availability of cheaper imported products, which typically do not exceed 100 UAH per kilogram. This factor could also contribute to the decline in prices for Ukrainian cucumbers, as consumers may opt for more affordable options.

Despite the price drop, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine are currently being sold at an average of 25% higher than during the same period last year. This indicates that, despite the reduction in prices, the overall level of vegetable prices remains high compared to previous years.

In addition to cucumbers, prices for white cabbage in Ukraine have also decreased. The primary reason for the drop in product value has been its low quality, which was caused by prolonged storage. Currently, cabbage prices in Ukraine are already on average 84% lower than a year ago. This reflects that the vegetable market continues to undergo changes that affect prices and supply.

Thus, the situation in the cucumber market and other vegetables in Ukraine remains dynamic, with constant changes in pricing policies and supply. Consumers, in turn, have the opportunity to choose between various product options, allowing them to find optimal prices that fit their budgets.
