Diesel Fuel Prices in Germany Reach Historic Highs

In Germany, the price of diesel fuel has reached a new historic high, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency, citing data from the German television channel Tagesschau. According to the information, new measures implemented by the federal government to combat high fuel prices have already come into effect, but this has not prevented the price of diesel from soaring to record levels.

On Wednesday, October 18, the cost of a liter of diesel fuel was 2.327 euros. This significant increase has raised concerns among drivers, as fuel prices continue to rise despite government efforts. Additionally, prices for Super E10 gasoline have also increased, reaching 2.129 euros per liter, marking a new annual high for this type of fuel.

Experts point to two main reasons contributing to the rapid rise in diesel prices. First, the production process for diesel fuel is more complex compared to gasoline. Second, Germany and other European countries are largely dependent on diesel fuel imports, as most of this fuel is supplied ready-made from other countries. While Europe is a major producer of gasoline and even exports it, the situation with diesel is considerably more complicated.

Furthermore, experts warn that further increases in fuel prices may be possible in the near future. On international markets, the price of crude oil has sharply risen following a recent speech by U.S. President Donald Trump. Brent crude oil has increased by approximately 8%, reaching over $109 per barrel. This rise in oil prices could lead to even higher fuel prices in Germany and other European countries.

It is worth noting that the military operation by the United States and Israel against Iran has also been one of the factors contributing to the rise in global oil prices. This has led to supply disruptions from the region, which, in turn, has affected the fuel market in Europe. In the context of global instability and rising energy prices, drivers in Germany are facing new challenges related to fuel costs.

Given these circumstances, drivers and motorists in Germany should be prepared for further changes in fuel prices, which may negatively impact their budgets. The government continues to seek solutions to stabilize fuel prices, but for now, the situation remains tense.
