Alarm Among American Politicians: Trump Demands Iran Open the Strait of Hormuz Using Profanity
Concerns have been raised among American politicians regarding the mental state of President Donald Trump following his recent remarks directed at Iran. Trump, using explicit language, called for the country to open the Strait of Hormuz.
Some American politicians have expressed alarm and questioned the mental stability of U.S. President Donald Trump after his recent address to Iran. Trump, using a profanity-laden statement, urged the country to open the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by the British publication The Guardian.
On April 5, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social: "On Tuesday in Iran, it will be 'Power Plant Day' and 'Bridge Day,' all at the same time. It will be something!!! Open the f***ing strait, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell. Just watch! Praise Allah."
Following this, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who had previously supported Trump, expressed her concerns, stating that every Christian in the Trump administration should "beg God for forgiveness" and intervene to stop the President's "madness."
"I know all of you and him, and he has gone insane, and you are all complicit. I am not defending Iran, but let's be honest about all of this," she noted, emphasizing that the Strait of Hormuz is closed due to the U.S. and Israel having "started an unfounded war against Iran, based on the same nuclear fabrications they have been telling for decades, claiming that Iran is about to develop nuclear weapons."
Greene also added: "You know who has nuclear weapons? Israel. They are fully capable of defending themselves without the U.S. fighting for them, killing innocent people and children, and paying for it. Trump's threats to bomb power plants and bridges harm the Iranian people, the very people he claims to be liberating. This is not what we promised the American people when they overwhelmingly supported us in 2024. This is not making America great again; this is evil," she emphasized.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also reacted to Trump's statement, comparing his remarks to the behavior of a "madman." "Happy Easter, America. While you head to church and celebrate with friends and family, the President of the United States is ranting on social media like a madman. He threatens potential war crimes and alienates allies. That’s who he is, but we are not like that. Our country deserves much better," he stated.
Independent U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders also commented on the situation, calling it "the ramblings of a dangerous and mentally unstable person." "A month after the war in Iran began, here is what the President of the United States said on Easter Sunday. This is the ramblings of a dangerous and mentally unstable person. Congress must act soon. We need to end this war," Sanders emphasized.
Democratic Senator Chris Murphy also deemed the President's statement as "absolute madness." "If I were in Trump's cabinet, I would spend Easter calling constitutional lawyers about the 25th Amendment. This is absolutely, utterly insane. He has already killed thousands of people. He will kill thousands more," the politician noted.
Democratic Representative Ro Khanna believes Trump is "betraying" American servicemen in Iran: "We need to stop this war immediately. We need an immediate ceasefire. Iran, Israel, and the United States must stop bombing and reach an agreement through negotiations." Democratic Senator Tim Kaine urged the President to "tone down his rhetoric," adding that Trump's remarks are "shameful and childish" and increase risks for American troops.
Democrat and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jake Auchincloss emphasized that strategically, "this war has proven to be a failure." "Iran realizes that essentially controlling the strait is of even greater strategic importance to them than developing nuclear weapons," Auchincloss believes.
Trump threatened to destroy all Iranian power plants if the country's leaders do not agree to open the Strait of Hormuz by the evening of Tuesday, April 7. In response, Iran stated that it would fully open the Strait of Hormuz only after being compensated for financial losses incurred due to the war.
The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that mediation efforts by Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan to initiate direct contacts between the U.S. and Iran have yet to yield results. According to the publication, Tehran has refused to make concessions.
