Trump Considers Allowing Iran to Acquire Nuclear Weapons a Serious War Crime

U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that permitting Iran to possess nuclear weapons constitutes a serious war crime, a statement he made during a recent press interaction at the White House.

U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that permitting Iran to possess nuclear weapons constitutes a serious war crime, a statement he made during a recent press interaction at the White House, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency, citing CNN.

When journalists questioned Trump about whether U.S. strikes on power plants and other critical infrastructure in Iran could be considered a war crime, the president responded, "I’m not worried about that. Do you know what a war crime is? A war crime is allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons." These remarks further underscore Trump's determination regarding Iran's nuclear program.

Trump has repeatedly warned that the United States may strike significant infrastructure targets in Iran, such as power plants, bridges, and other strategic sites, if Tehran fails to reach an agreement or opens the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is a critical oil artery through which a substantial portion of the world's oil supplies pass.

Over the weekend, Trump reiterated that Iran has until Wednesday, April 8, at 3 a.m. Kyiv time, to finalize an agreement. This ultimatum highlights the urgency of the situation and the pressure the U.S. is trying to exert on Iran in the context of nuclear negotiations.

It is noteworthy that President Trump has not endorsed a ceasefire plan proposed by intermediaries regarding Iran. This indicates that the Trump administration remains steadfast in its hardline stance towards Tehran, despite international efforts aimed at achieving peace in the region.

Thus, the situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program remains tense, and the position of the U.S. under Trump's leadership continues to raise concerns among the international community. Many experts believe that further actions by the U.S. could lead to an escalation of conflict in the region if a diplomatic resolution to the situation is not found.
