Trump Considers Firing Attorney General Pam Bondi Over Epstein Case — CNN

President of the United States Donald Trump is reportedly engaged in secret discussions regarding the potential dismissal of Attorney General Pam Bondi. This consideration stems from Trump's dissatisfaction with her handling of the high-profile case involving notorious American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

President Donald Trump is currently in private negotiations about possibly dismissing Attorney General Pam Bondi. This deliberation arises from Trump's frustration with her performance in the case of Jeffrey Epstein, a well-known American sex offender, and the consideration of a potential replacement.

According to information disclosed on Thursday, April 2, by CNN, Trump has been privately discussing the possibility of replacing Bondi with Lee Zeldin, who currently serves as the head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The reasons for Trump's dissatisfaction are linked to criticism from his supporters, who believe that the administration has not been sufficiently vigorous in pursuing the Epstein case, as well as Trump's perception that Bondi has not conducted enough investigations into the activities of his political opponents.

Despite these discussions, a final decision regarding Bondi's dismissal has yet to be made. CNN reports that Trump continues to work with Bondi, publicly expresses support for her, and refers to her as a "wonderful person," emphasizing that "she is doing a great job."

The idea of replacing Pam Bondi with Lee Zeldin first emerged in January but later lost traction as the Epstein case faded from the agenda. Some officials within the Justice Department even considered the issue to be resolved; however, recent discussions in the White House have reignited the possibility of a replacement.

Lee Zeldin is not the definitive candidate to succeed Bondi should she be dismissed. However, according to sources, Trump frequently mentions him among other potential contenders for the position.

The Jeffrey Epstein case remains a relevant topic in American society. On November 18, 2025, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to release materials related to the Epstein case and forwarded the corresponding bill to the Senate. On December 20, the U.S. Department of Justice released some documents associated with the Epstein case that included references to current President Donald Trump. Specifically, it detailed his acquaintance with a 14-year-old girl at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Among other public figures linked to the Epstein case are members of the British royal family. Notably, files released by the U.S. Department of Justice on January 30, 2026, included a photo of Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of King Charles III, kneeling over an unidentified woman. On February 19, the BBC reported that police arrested former Prince Andrew for misconduct in public office.

Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is not the only member of the British royal family associated with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Former Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson also had ties to him. Epstein's files mentioned other royal families in Europe, including Swedish Princess Sofia and Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

On the same day, the New Mexico Department of Justice announced an investigation into the burial of the bodies of two foreign girls near the Zorro Ranch owned by Epstein, located 48 kilometers south of Santa Fe. Additionally, the state legislature has initiated its first comprehensive investigation into allegations of Epstein's prolonged sexual abuse of girls and women at the Zorro Ranch.
