Trump on the Brink of Decisive Action Against Iran: Threat to Destroy Infrastructure or New Negotiations

On April 7, Axios reported a critical situation facing U.S. President Donald Trump, who must make a pivotal decision on whether to follow through on threats to destroy Iranian infrastructure or delay military action to allow for diplomatic negotiations.

On Tuesday, April 7, Axios reported a critical situation facing U.S. President Donald Trump. He must make a pivotal decision: whether to follow through on his threats to destroy Iranian infrastructure or delay military action once again to allow for diplomatic negotiations.

On April 5, Trump issued a stern statement threatening to demolish Iranian power plants and bridges, demanding that Tehran open the Strait of Hormuz. He set a deadline for Iran to comply by Tuesday at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

In response to the escalating tensions, mediators from Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey are attempting to prevent military conflict by negotiating agreements or, at the very least, buying time for discussions.

In a comment to Axios, a senior administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, noted that if Trump believes a deal is close, he may postpone strikes. 'But that decision is made only by him and no one else,' the source emphasized.

A source within the Pentagon expressed skepticism about the possibility of extending the deadline this time. According to one of the publication's sources, who has spoken with Trump multiple times in recent days, the American leader is the staunchest advocate for a hardline stance against Tehran among the senior leadership of his administration.

Axios also quoted another American official who, downplaying rumors that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth or Secretary of State Marco Rubio were urging the president towards decisive action, stated that Trump is 'the most bloodthirsty, like a rabid dog.' In contrast, according to the official, Hegseth and Rubio 'sound like doves.'

Axios sources reported that a plan for large-scale strikes by the U.S. and Israel on Iran's energy facilities is ready for implementation if Donald Trump gives the appropriate order. The president has repeatedly warned that the United States could strike power plants, bridges, and other infrastructure in Iran if Tehran does not reach an agreement or open the Strait of Hormuz.

On April 5, Trump stated that Iran has until Tuesday at 8:00 PM Eastern Time to reach an agreement. 'Tuesday will be the 'Day of Power Plants' and 'Day of Bridges' in Iran, and all at once. It will be something! Open the f***ing strait, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell. Just watch! Praise Allah,' Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social.

In Tehran, in response to U.S. threats, officials stated that if the United States were to carry out further strikes on Iranian infrastructure, 'the gates of hell' would open for both the U.S. and Israel. According to CNN, Tehran declared that it would fully open the Strait of Hormuz only after receiving compensation for the financial damages incurred due to the war.

On April 6, Axios reported that the U.S. and Iran, with the help of intermediaries, are discussing the terms of a potential 45-day ceasefire that could lead to a final end to the war. However, on the same day, Reuters, citing sources, reported that Iran rejected a proposal to end the war with the U.S. and Israel, under which Tehran would unblock the Strait of Hormuz for a ceasefire.

Subsequently, CNN reported that Trump did not support the plan presented by the mediators. On April 6, Trump also stated that Iran could be destroyed in one night, adding that this could happen as soon as Tuesday.
