Tragedy in Odesa: Russian Attack Claims Lives of Three, Including a Child

Emergency rescue operations in Odesa have concluded following a devastating Russian attack on April 6, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including one child. Seventeen others were injured, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

In Odesa, emergency rescue operations have come to a close following a horrific Russian attack that occurred on April 6. This tragic bombardment claimed the lives of three individuals, one of whom was a child. Additionally, 17 people sustained injuries, as reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

Rescue teams successfully saved seven individuals, including one child, marking a significant achievement amid the crisis. The attack not only inflicted casualties on civilians but also caused extensive damage to infrastructure. According to the Odesa City Military Administration, a multi-story residential complex in the Primorsky district was damaged, along with seven private homes.

The situation in the Kyiv district proved to be even more critical, with substantial destruction reported. Thirteen multi-story buildings were damaged, and over 850 windows were shattered. Furthermore, 39 private houses were affected, nine of which were completely destroyed as a result of the attack.

Currently, efforts are underway to clear the debris and dismantle hazardous structures in the affected areas. Operational headquarters continue to function in both districts, while municipal services are engaged in clearing the sites and boarding up broken windows. Specialists from the district administrations are providing consultations and accepting applications for assistance from the municipal budget, as well as through the state program eRecovery. Inspections of the damaged properties are ongoing.

Throughout the night in Odesa, explosions were heard, and the city military administration later reported a direct hit on a multi-story building. The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicated that Russia launched an attack involving 141 drones overnight, underscoring the scale of the aggression.

According to the regional military administration, the injured individuals suffered from shrapnel wounds, burns, trauma, and poisoning from combustion products. Some of the victims are in serious condition, while the condition of the children has been assessed as moderate. This tragedy once again highlights the horrific consequences of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the urgent need for assistance for those affected.
