Tragedy in Chabany — 7 Animals Dead, Clinic Administrator Recalls Horrific Moments During Attack

A tragic incident at a veterinary clinic in Chabany, Kyiv region, resulted in the death of seven animals during a Russian attack. The clinic's administrator recounted the terrifying moments as the attack unfolded.

A veterinary clinic located in Chabany, Kyiv region, has been the scene of a tragedy, resulting in the death of seven animals. This information emerged after the clinic's administrator shared the events that transpired during a Russian attack. Initially, reports indicated that 20 animals had perished, but this information was later corrected.

According to the clinic administrator, the staff barely managed to reach the shelter during the strike. She noted that they only realized an attack had occurred when they were told to evacuate due to a fire. "We didn’t even know it had hit us. Later, we were told: 'Come out, you are on fire.' When we exited, everything was in flames," the administrator recounted, describing the horrific situation that unfolded in the clinic.

Rescue workers who arrived at the scene attempted to evacuate the animals, providing oxygen and doing everything possible to stabilize the injured. Unfortunately, due to the intense fire and difficulties accessing the area, they were unable to save any of the animals. The clinic's inpatient area housed seven animals — two dogs and five cats — all of which tragically died.

Earlier, official sources had reported 20 dead animals, but this information was later refuted. Police confirmed that only seven animals had actually died, which came as a shock to everyone who learned of this tragedy.

On the morning of April 3, the Kyiv region became one of the targets of a combined Russian attack. The region was heavily bombarded by drones known as Shahed. As a result of these attacks, one person was killed in the Bucha district, and rescuers managed to extinguish a vehicle fire. Additionally, in the village of Kriukivshchyna, the roof of a five-story residential building was damaged. The Bucha district also includes Vyshneve, where, according to BBC Ukraine, a drone crashed in the yard of a local school.

On April 3, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine using strike drones and cruise missiles from strategic bombers. The Kyiv region was under fire, and the movement of missiles and drones was also detected in many other regions of Ukraine. Explosions were reported in Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Zhytomyr regions. The attack resulted in the deaths of two people, further underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

In Kyiv and several other regions, emergency power outages were implemented as another consequence of the massive attacks. Overall, the radio-technical forces of the Ukrainian Air Force recorded 579 aerial attack means. As of 2 PM, air defense had shot down or suppressed 541 targets, including 26 missiles and 515 drones of various types, among them 24 Kh-101 cruise missiles, 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles, and 515 enemy UAVs.

This tragedy in Chabany serves as yet another reminder of how Russia's war against Ukraine impacts not only people but also defenseless animals, who have also become victims of aggression. It is crucial for society to remember these tragedies and support those affected by the war.
