Trade Between Ukraine and Syria Increased Ninefold Since Restoration of Diplomatic Relations – Sybiha
Trade between Ukraine and Syria has surged ninefold since the restoration of diplomatic relations, as reported by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the social media platform X on Sunday. This announcement followed the recent visit of Ukraine's president to Syria.
Trade between Ukraine and Syria has experienced a remarkable increase, soaring ninefold since the two nations restored their diplomatic relations. This significant information was shared by Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a discussion on the social media platform X on Sunday, highlighting the outcomes of a recent presidential visit to Syria.
During this visit, Sybiha engaged in crucial negotiations with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hasan al-Sheibani. These discussions marked an important step forward in developing bilateral relations between the two countries, which share common interests across various sectors.
"We discussed a number of important directions and initiatives, primarily related to security. The security of Europe and the Middle East is interconnected. We will continue our joint efforts to achieve sustainable peace for our peoples," Sybiha stated in his message on X.
One of the key topics of the negotiations was the logistics of trade routes, along with issues surrounding food security. The minister emphasized Ukraine's significant contribution to this area through initiatives such as "Grain from Ukraine," which helps ensure food security not only for Ukraine but also for other nations, including Syria.
"Bilateral trade has already increased ninefold since the signing of the Joint Communiqué on the restoration of diplomatic relations, and we see clear opportunities for further expansion," Sybiha added, underscoring the positive dynamics in cooperation between Ukraine and Syria.
A pivotal step in strengthening bilateral relations was the agreement between the two parties to resume the operation of embassies in Kyiv and Damascus. This decision reflects the intention of both nations to enhance cooperation across various fields, which could positively impact their economic and political relations.
In today's world, facing numerous challenges, the restoration and strengthening of diplomatic ties between Ukraine and Syria represent a vital step not only for both countries but also for the region as a whole. Collaborative efforts on security, economic, and humanitarian initiatives could serve as a foundation for stable development and prosperity.
