The Telegraph Reveals How Ukrainian Forces Made History by Destroying a Bridge Using Drones
In a significant milestone in the history of military conflicts in Ukraine, Ukrainian forces successfully destroyed a bridge controlled by Russian troops using drones. This operation, conducted in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, marks the first known instance of a drone attack leading to the complete destruction of a bridge.
A pivotal moment has occurred in the ongoing military conflicts in Ukraine: Ukrainian forces have managed to destroy a bridge under Russian control using drones. This operation took place in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region and represents a historic first, where a drone attack resulted in the total destruction of a bridge.
According to information published by The Telegraph, Ukrainian military personnel actively utilized British Malloy T-150 drones over a two-month period to carry out this mission. The operation, which has now entered the annals of history, was conducted at the beginning of 2025; however, details surrounding it had not been disclosed until now.
The bridge targeted by Ukrainian forces spanned a tributary of the Dnipro River known as the Konka and was a critically important strategic asset. For several months, Ukrainian forces had attempted to destroy this bridge using airstrikes and HIMARS rocket systems, but all previous attempts had proven unsuccessful. Consequently, military command decided to assign this task to the 426th Marine Corps Drone Systems Regiment of Ukraine.
Colonel Oleksiy Bulakhov, the commander of this regiment, emphasized that "bridges are relatively easy to destroy from below, but they are designed to be extremely strong from the outside." This indicates that successfully executing the mission required identifying vulnerabilities in the bridge's structure.
A breakthrough in this operation occurred when a Russian soldier released photographs of the bridge's internal structure. This information became a crucial element for Ukrainian engineers, who were able to pinpoint vulnerabilities and deliver precise strikes on key components of the structure.
Over the course of 60 days, the 426th regiment conducted 30 missions, delivering a total of 1.5 tons of explosives and compromising the structural integrity of the bridge. The final missile strike proved decisive, demolishing the bridge and concluding this unique military operation.
This event underscores the importance of modern technology in warfare and demonstrates how drones can alter the course of military engagements. Ukrainian forces continue to adapt to new conditions and employ innovative methods to achieve their objectives in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity of the country.
