Ukrainian tennis players Elina Svitolina and Sergiy Stakhovsky have launched their own padel club in Kyiv, marking a significant milestone for sports enthusiasts in the country.
According to BTU, Ukrainian tennis stars Elina Svitolina and Sergiy Stakhovsky, who have previously collaborated to conduct master classes for young players across the nation, have now unveiled their own club dedicated to the sport of padel. The grand opening took place in Podil at the Garage hub, an event that has been hailed as a major development for all fans of this sport in Ukraine.
The newly established club features seven indoor padel courts, providing comfortable playing conditions regardless of the weather. This facility will allow padel enthusiasts to enjoy the game year-round and will contribute to the growing popularity of this sporting discipline in Ukraine.
Elina Svitolina, one of the country's most renowned tennis players, expressed her excitement during a dinner celebrating the club's opening: “This is such a dream. Of course, we are passionate about tennis, but in recent years, we have also become enamored with padel. For us, it’s a fantastic recreational format. We hope this will be a place where you can release negative energy. We would be happy to see you here.” Her words reflect not only her enthusiasm but also her desire to create a positive atmosphere for all visitors to the club.
It is noteworthy that other sports stars are also actively contributing to the development of padel in Ukraine. Notably, the president of the Ukrainian Football Association, Andriy Shevchenko, and the undisputed world boxing champion, Oleksandr Usyk, who recently opened his own padel center, are among those leading the charge. This trend indicates a growing interest in padel within Ukraine, which, in turn, supports the development of sports infrastructure and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Padel, which combines elements of tennis and squash, is gaining popularity worldwide, and its development in Ukraine could represent a significant step in shaping a new sporting culture. The opening of this new club serves as further evidence that Ukrainian athletes are not only ready to achieve success on the international stage but are also eager to actively contribute to the growth of sports within their own country.
