Dmitry Bryzhynskyi, the Head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration, confirmed that the strikes damaged seven private houses, with three being completely destroyed by fire. The aerial assault also hit an educational institution, an administrative building, a defunct medical facility, and two vehicles. Medics diagnosed them with acute stress reactions and minor cuts and bruises. The strikes targeted four separate locations across different city neighborhoods, marking a deadly continuation of the aerial campaign against the region. The Ukrainian Air Force and defense units intercepted or suppressed 203 Russian drones during a massive overnight assault that began on the evening of April 18 and continued into Sunday morning. The drones were launched from several directions, including Kursk, Bryansk, and occupied Crimea. According to the Air Force, as of 8:00 a.m. on April 19, 32 drones managed to strike targets across 18 separate locations, while debris fell in another eight locations. This latest drone attack follows a day of violence on Saturday, April 18, when Russian forces intensified their use of FPV drones and combat UAVs against civilian targets . Previous strikes included an attack on a commuter minibus in the Nikopol district that injured a 14-year-old boy and a targeted strike on a fire station in the Sumy region. Chernihiv has been under consistent pressure, with a strike on an energy facility just 24 hours earlier leaving 380,000 residents without power . Regional authorities and emergency services remain on high alert as Russian forces continue to target residential and social infrastructure across northern and eastern Ukraine.
