Tyson Fury Plans Three Fights in 2026: First Against Mahmoudov, Followed by Joshua and Possible Rematch
Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has ambitious plans for 2026, aiming to participate in three major boxing matches, starting with a bout against Russian boxer Mahmoudov on April 11 in London.
Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has set his sights on an ambitious 2026, during which he intends to engage in three significant boxing matches. The first of these bouts is scheduled for April 11 in London, where Fury will face off against Russian boxer Mahmoudov. Following this, the 'Gypsy King,' as he is often referred to, plans to step into the ring with British boxer Anthony Joshua, and there is also talk of a potential rematch, according to information provided by Ring Magazine.
Commenting on his plans, Tyson Fury stated, "I just want to have as many big fights as possible at this stage of my career. I have won all the possible titles, I have completed my boxing career. It’s no longer about the belt; I just want to have that fight with Anthony Joshua that has been talked about for the last 10 years but has never happened."
Fury emphasized that his immediate focus is on the fight with Mahmoudov, but he remains open to the possibilities that may arise after his bout with Joshua. "Of course, first I have this big fight with Mahmoudov, and then we don’t know what the third fight after Joshua could be, but I plan to have three fights this year," he added.
Fury also expressed confidence that his match against Joshua will be a successful one for him. "If it’s a good fight between me and AJ, although I don’t think that’s going to be the case because, in my opinion, it will be my devastating victory, then we will have a rematch. And if not, we’ll see," the boxer remarked.
This announcement is significant, as Fury last stepped into the ring in December 2024, where he suffered his second defeat at the hands of Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk. In January 2025, he announced his retirement from boxing, but by early 2026, he decided to make a comeback, which came as a surprise to many of his fans.
Anthony Joshua, for his part, also has plans for the future. He last fought in December 2025, where he achieved a victory over American boxer Jake Paul by knockout in the sixth round. This success has increased his chances of a potential fight with Fury, which has been a topic of discussion in boxing circles for quite some time.
Earlier, media reports indicated that Fury's promoter accidentally revealed the date and location of the Fury-Joshua fight, which sparked even greater interest in this matchup. Both boxers have massive fan bases, and their fight promises to be one of the most anticipated events in the boxing world.
Thus, the year 2026 promises to be eventful for Tyson Fury, who, despite his previous decisions to retire, is once again ready to conquer the ring and delight his fans with major bouts.
