Taras Hereha Joins Supervisory Board of Intersport Polska

Taras Hereha, son of Oleksandr and Halyna Hereha, co-owners of the Ukrainian retail chain Epicenter, has recently taken on a new role in business by becoming a member of the supervisory board of Intersport Polska S.A. This decision was made during an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders held on April 7, 2023, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

In a significant move for both Taras Hereha and Intersport Polska, the young businessman has joined the supervisory board of the Polish sports retail company. The decision was reached during an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders that took place on April 7, 2023. This development highlights a strategic effort to strengthen ties between Ukrainian and Polish markets in the sports retail sector.

It is important to note that Taras Hereha is not engaged in any activities that could compete with Intersport, nor is he listed in any debtor registries, indicating a stable financial reputation. This aspect is crucial for Intersport Polska as it seeks to expand its presence in the competitive Polish market.

Among the other members of the supervisory board of Intersport Polska are Julia Maksymenko, the managing director of the company in Ukraine, and Serhii Usichenko, the senior financial director of Epicenter K. Their presence on the board signifies a close collaboration between the Ukrainian and Polish branches of the business, which could foster further development of the Intersport network in Poland.

In April 2023, Intersport Polska entered into an investment agreement with Epicenter K and Paravita Holding, which are both beneficiaries of the Hereha family. Under this agreement, the Polish company received an investment of 10 million euros, which will be utilized for network development by opening new stores and modernizing existing ones. This investment underscores the ambitious plans of Intersport to capture a larger share of the sports goods market in Poland.

On the other hand, Epicenter K holds a license to develop a network of Intersport-branded stores in Ukraine, opening new avenues for collaboration between the two countries. In January 2024, it was announced that Epicenter had acquired Polish assets of Intersport, which will undoubtedly strengthen its position in the market.

Intersport GmbH is one of the largest sports retail chains in the world, boasting approximately 5,400 stores in over 40 countries. Established in 1968, the chain is unique in that it does not have a single owner. Specifically, Intersport Polska operates 31 stores and is developing a delivery network that employs around 500 people.

The Epicenter Group is an omnichannel ecosystem that encompasses the retail chains Epicenter and Nova Linia, the online store epicentrk.ua, the agricultural holding Epicenter-Agro, as well as factories producing ceramic tiles under Epicenter Ceramic Corporation, a woodworking enterprise CBM Osmoloda, and logistics facilities. As of early 2026, the retailer's network comprises 72 shopping centers across Ukraine.

The participants of LLC Epicenter K include Oleksandr Hereha (51.3%), Halyna Hereha (47.97%), and Tetiana Surzhyk (0.73%). This ownership structure indicates that the Hereha family holds significant influence in the business, which could positively impact the development of the Intersport network in both Poland and Ukraine.
