Tucker Carlson Urges American Officials to Resist Trump on Strikes Against Iran

In the United States, influential blogger and podcaster Tucker Carlson has called on American officials to oppose any attempts by President Donald Trump to order massive strikes that could result in civilian casualties in Iran.

On April 7, it was reported by The Wall Street Journal that Tucker Carlson, a prominent figure in American media, has urged government officials to stand firm against President Donald Trump's potential military actions in Iran. Carlson emphasized that it is time to clearly state 'no' to such actions, urging officials to directly communicate their stance to the president: 'absolutely not.'

He pointed out that officials should tell Trump to figure out the codes on the 'football,' referring to the 'black suitcase' containing the nuclear launch codes. This strong stance reflects growing concerns over the implications of military action in the region.

In his podcast, Carlson also criticized Trump's recent vulgar comments regarding the 'opening of the Strait of Hormuz,' labeling them as 'evil' and 'mockery of Christianity and Islam.' These remarks sparked a sharp response from the president, who, in a comment to New York Post journalist Caitlin Dornbos, called Carlson 'a man with a low IQ.' Trump remarked, 'Tucker is a low-IQ person who has absolutely no idea what is going on. He constantly calls me, but I don't answer his calls. I prefer to communicate with smart people, not fools.'

Furthermore, The Wall Street Journal notes that Carlson's criticism of Trump has been echoed by far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, conservative commentator Candace Owens, and former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Greene, who has been a staunch ally of Trump for years, has now become one of his fiercest critics. She called for Trump's removal, citing the 25th Amendment, which can be initiated by the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet if they believe the president is unable to perform his duties. She wrote, 'THE 25TH AMENDMENT!!! No bombs have been dropped on America. We cannot destroy an entire civilization.'

Tucker Carlson has been an ally of Trump for many years, speaking at the Republican National Convention and supporting Trump during his 2024 presidential campaign. However, Carlson has also been criticized for spreading misinformation and Russian propaganda regarding Ukraine. In April 2023, he left Fox News and subsequently launched his own show on the social media platform X.

In February 2024, Carlson interviewed Russian President Vladimir Putin and then suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should engage in a similar format, claiming he had agreed to an interview. However, Zelensky's press secretary, Serhiy Nikiforov, denied Carlson's assertions. In February 2025, Carlson referred to Zelensky as a 'dictator' and claimed that Ukrainians were spending 'his money.'

On June 17, President Trump publicly clashed with Carlson over their differences regarding the war between Israel and Iran, calling him 'crazy.' Trump wrote on social media, 'Explain to crazy Carlson that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons.' In December 2025, Carlson conducted an interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

On March 2, 2026, The New York Times reported that Carlson was one of the few close allies of Trump who opposed the American military operation in Iran. According to the publication, he met with Trump three times at the White House to dissuade him from this operation. On March 6, the president stated in an interview with ABC News' Jonathan Karl that Carlson no longer belongs to his MAGA (Make America Great Again) political movement due to disagreements over the military operation in Iran. Trump concluded, 'Tucker has lost his way. I knew that a long time ago; he does not support MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is 'America First,' and Tucker has nothing to do with that. And Tucker is not smart enough to understand that.'
