Syrskyi Visits Hotspot on the Frontline in Contested Area of Dnipropetrovsk Region

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi recently visited the positions of Ukrainian troops stationed at the frontline amid ongoing active combat in the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi recently made a visit to the positions of Ukrainian troops located on the frontline. This visit took place against the backdrop of active hostilities that continue in the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, particularly in the areas of Oleksandrivka and Pokrovsk.

In a post on Telegram dated April 5, Syrskyi stated, "I regularly work with soldiers in the hottest points of the front." He specifically mentioned Pokrovsk, located in the northwest of the Donetsk region, as well as Oleksandrivka, a village in the Dnipropetrovsk region that was captured by Russian forces last summer.

Efforts are ongoing in Ukraine to clear the Dnipropetrovsk region of Russian troops, accompanied by fierce battles that intensified in January. "During this operation, we have regained control over 480 square kilometers of territory, eight municipalities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and four in the Zaporizhzhia region," emphasized Syrskyi.

On April 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Syrskyi briefed him on the situation in the sectors of Oleksandrivka and Pokrovsk. "Here is where the largest forces of the Russian army are concentrated, and therefore, our counteraction is focused here," noted Zelensky. "I am grateful to all our units for the tangible results in striking the enemy."

The situation on the frontline in the Dnipropetrovsk region and around Oleksandrivka is complicated by the expansion of the gray zone imposed by drones, rendering even areas that were 'liberated' uninhabitable. This creates additional challenges for Ukrainian troops trying to regain control over these vital areas.

It is important to note that the struggle for Oleksandrivka and Pokrovsk is part of a broader strategy by Ukraine aimed at restoring control over territories that have been captured by Russian forces. These areas are strategically significant as they provide access to key supply routes and communications.

Thus, Oleksandr Syrskyi's visit underscores the importance of supporting Ukrainian troops at the frontline and the efforts being made to regain control over lost territories. Ukrainian forces continue to fight for their independence and territorial integrity, despite the difficult circumstances and challenges they face.
