General-Polkovnyk Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, recently conducted a crucial meeting with sergeants and soldiers from airborne assault and storm units. As reported by the Ukrinform news agency, Syrskyi shared details of this event in a Facebook post, highlighting the significance of direct communication with military personnel on the front lines.
During the meeting, key issues regarding the needs of servicemen, their challenges, and their perspectives on the situation at the front were discussed. Syrskyi emphasized the importance of considering not only what occurs on the battlefield but also those aspects that may be overlooked from the command offices. "We talked about important matters: the needs of servicemen, problems, the vision of the front, supply issues, and much more that is not always visible from the offices," he wrote.
The Commander-in-Chief underscored that the most crucial element of the Defense Forces is the people. "The task of commanders and leaders is not only to set tasks and demand their execution but, first and foremost, to provide for, train, and preserve the lives of their soldiers. This must work through mutual respect between the commander and the subordinate. And this fundamentally distinguishes the Ukrainian army from the Russian occupying army," Syrskyi stressed, highlighting the importance of the human factor in military affairs.
During the discussions, Syrskyi received direct feedback from sergeants and soldiers about their service, as well as their thoughts on battlefield actions and potential options for countering enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The issues of training for servicemen, especially newcomers, and the cohesion of military units were also addressed, which is critically important for the effective execution of combat tasks.
"We agreed to meet again after some time to discuss the progress of implementing the proposed ideas and the status of resolving problematic issues," noted the Commander-in-Chief, emphasizing the importance of regular monitoring of the situation and adapting to new challenges.
Furthermore, Syrskyi highlighted that the primary need of the Ukrainian army is its personnel. According to him, mobilization is the main source of replenishing the needs of the Armed Forces. He stressed the importance of ensuring that this process is as comfortable as possible for those being mobilized, to avoid legal violations and ensure adherence to all procedures applied during mobilization. He rated the mobilization process in Ukraine at 6-7 out of 10, indicating the need for improvements in this area.
This meeting marked an important step in enhancing interaction between the command and personnel, which will undoubtedly contribute to increasing the effectiveness of combat task execution and ensuring the safety of servicemen.
