Ukrainian Defense Forces Strike Two Shahed Drone Launch Bases in Kursk and Bryansk Regions

In a successful operation conducted on the night of April 4, 2023, the Ukrainian Defense Forces targeted and struck two drone launch bases belonging to the Shahed program within the territory of the Russian Federation. This information was shared by the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi, via his Telegram channel, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency.

According to Brovdi, the operation was carried out in collaboration with other units specializing in deep strike capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. As a result of this nighttime assault, two hubs and pre-flight preparation points for Shahed drones were destroyed, located in the settlement of Navlya in the Bryansk region and at the Khalino airfield in the Kursk region of Russia.

The commander also noted that during this operation, the Unmanned Systems Forces destroyed a radar station that is part of the S-400 surface-to-air missile system located in Feodosia, as well as a Tor missile system. Additionally, around twelve other military facilities were destroyed, including command points, transport units, warehouses, and two Shahed hubs situated in the marshy areas of Kursk and Bryansk.

This attack is part of a broader strategy by the Ukrainian Defense Forces aimed at dismantling the infrastructure that supports Russia's aggressive actions. It has also been reported that on the night of April 4, Ukrainian drones launched an attack on the city of Tolyatti in the Samara region of Russia, resulting in fires at two chemical enterprises—Tolyattikauchuk and KuibyshevAzot. These events underscore the increasing effectiveness of Ukrainian unmanned systems in executing missions deep within enemy territory.

It is important to note that these strikes occur against the backdrop of an ongoing escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, where both sides are striving to enhance their military effectiveness. The Ukrainian Defense Forces, bolstered by modern technologies and unmanned aerial vehicles, continue to implement a strategy of actively targeting enemy military facilities, which could significantly influence the course of hostilities.
