Ukrainian Defense Forces Strike Oil Terminal in Novorossiysk and Be-12 Amphibious Aircraft
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their active operations against military targets in the Russian Federation, successfully striking key infrastructure. On April 6, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported successful operations that hit the Sheskharis oil terminal in Novorossiysk and a Be-12 amphibious aircraft belonging to Russian troops in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces are intensifying their military actions against Russian military facilities, focusing on precise strikes against critical infrastructure. On April 6, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced successful operations that resulted in significant damage to the Sheskharis oil terminal located in Novorossiysk, as well as a Be-12 amphibious aircraft in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.
According to the General Staff, the strike on the oil infrastructure at the Sheskharis terminal, situated in the Krasnodar region, resulted in a direct hit on the target, causing a large-scale fire at the terminal. Currently, the extent of the damage is being assessed. Ukrainian Armed Forces officers also confirmed the damage to the Be-12 anti-submarine amphibious aircraft in the Kacha area, located within the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, although the degree of damage has yet to be determined.
Additional details regarding the strike on the oil terminal were provided by sources within the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). They reported that drones from the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Center, in collaboration with other defense units such as the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, Special Operations Forces, and the State Border Guard Service, conducted an operation that led to an 'explosion' at the Sheskharis terminal.
This terminal is one of the largest oil and petroleum product transshipment complexes in southern Russia, and its operations supply fuel to Russian military groups involved in the war against Ukraine. According to SBU sources, the strike damaged six out of seven oil loading stands used for loading and unloading oil from tankers. Additionally, hits were recorded on the terminal's ground infrastructure, including a key block of the pipeline system and an oil accounting unit, which resulted in large-scale fires at the impact sites.
The Security Service of Ukraine emphasized that it continues to work consistently to reduce the military, economic, and logistical capabilities of the enemy. 'Such operations will continue until Russia ceases its aggression against Ukraine. Each of these strikes undermines the enemy's ability to finance the war and supply its troops with resources,' stated sources within the SBU.
These events highlight the importance of strategic strikes on key enemy targets, which can significantly influence the course of the war and diminish Russia's capabilities in conducting military operations against Ukraine.
