Ukrainian Defense Forces Regain Control Over 480 km² and Liberate 12 Settlements

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have made significant strides in their counteroffensive operations, regaining control over approximately 480 square kilometers of territory and liberating 12 settlements, as reported by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, on Sunday, April 5.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue active operations in the Alexandrovsky direction, where they have successfully regained control over approximately 480 square kilometers of territory and liberated 12 settlements as part of their counteroffensive campaign. This announcement was made by Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Sunday, April 5.

According to Syrskyi, Ukrainian military forces have regained control over eight settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region and four in Zaporizhzhia. The offensive actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Alexandrovsky direction have been ongoing since the end of January, during which significant progress has been made in liberating territories from Russian troops.

The Commander-in-Chief noted that Russian forces are actively attacking in the areas of settlements such as Ternove, Oleksandrhrad, Ivanivka, Zelenyi Hai, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Sychneve, as well as towards Sosnivka, Verbove, and Zlahoda. Over the past week, a total of 64 enemy attacks have been recorded in this direction, indicating the intensity of the combat actions.

At the same time, Syrskyi emphasized that Russian forces continue their offensive actions, attempting to create a buffer zone in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In response to these actions, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are not only holding the line but are also striking back at the enemy, trying to halt their advance.

Furthermore, the Commander-in-Chief reported that he has instructed to enhance the supply of ammunition and other logistical resources for the units operating in Donetsk, which is a crucial step to ensure the effectiveness of combat operations.

An important moment in the context of the successes of the Ukrainian military was President Volodymyr Zelensky's address to the British Parliament on March 17, where he stated that over the past 30 days, the Ukrainian military had reclaimed more territory than Russia had captured. This reflects a positive trend in the counteroffensive of Ukrainian forces.

In an interview with CNN published on March 15, Zelensky also pointed out that Russia was preparing a major offensive operation; however, the Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to prevent it by launching their counteroffensive. This confirms the effectiveness of the strategies employed by the Ukrainian military in their fight against the aggressor.

On March 14, Zelensky announced that the Russian spring offensive campaign had already failed, as it was expected to be in full swing, but Ukrainian forces were able to stop its progress.

On March 10, Major General Oleksandr Komarenko, head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff, reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces had almost completely liberated the territories of the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to him, only three small settlements needed to be 'worked on' and two more required 'clearing.'

On March 3, Zelensky clarified that over the past month and a half, the Defense Forces had liberated 400-435 square kilometers in southern Ukraine, indicating active combat operations and the successes of the Ukrainian military in regaining control over the territory.

On February 23, Syrskyi also reported that in the Alexandrovsky direction, Ukrainian defenders had regained control over 400 square kilometers of territory and eight settlements since the end of January, highlighting the ongoing progress in the counteroffensive.

Thus, the situation in the Alexandrovsky direction remains tense, but Ukrainian forces continue to demonstrate resilience and effectiveness in their fight against the aggressor, regaining control over vital territories.
