Ukrainian Defense Forces Maintain Control Over Parts of Luhansk Region, Refuting Russian Ministry of Defense Claims of Full Occupation

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold parts of the Luhansk region, countering recent claims by the Russian Ministry of Defense regarding the complete occupation of the area. This information was confirmed by Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, during a televised marathon on April 2.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are steadfastly maintaining control over portions of the Luhansk region, despite recent assertions from the Russian Ministry of Defense that the area has been fully occupied. Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, shared this information during a televised marathon on April 2.

Trehubov noted that while Russian occupiers control a significant portion of Luhansk, Ukrainian troops have held onto a small yet strategically important section of territory for years, which remains unchanged. He assured that there have been no significant movements or alterations in the situation within the Luhansk region at this time.

“It seems that yesterday, April 1, was also a day for the Russian Ministry of Defense... I do not know why the Russians decided to announce something now. This is once again classic 'narcomania' from the Russian Ministry of Defense, akin to their claims about the fourth capture of Kupiansk, or their assertions regarding the number of destroyed Ukrainian equipment, which supposedly exceeds the total number of equipment from NATO countries combined,” Trehubov emphasized.

He further added that Russian forces are unable to seize the last few villages in Luhansk due to the presence of “well-fortified and occupied positions” held by Ukrainian defenders. This indicates that Ukrainian military personnel continue to effectively fulfill their duties, despite ongoing attempts by the enemy.

Trehubov pointed out that this territory is not a genuine priority for the Russian army. However, in the region, the Russians are particularly interested in towns such as Lyman and Borova, which may hold strategic significance for future military operations.

On April 1, the Third Assault Brigade refuted claims made by the Russian Ministry of Defense that occupiers had allegedly captured the entire Luhansk region. Ukrainian forces, especially in areas such as Nadiya, Novoihorivka, and Hrekivka, continue to maintain their defense, despite all attempts by the Russians to seize the region both through military action and “virtual” means via lies and misinformation.

This situation reaffirms that Ukrainian forces remain resilient in the face of the challenges they encounter and continue to protect their land from aggression. The war between Russia and Ukraine persists, and Ukrainian military personnel demonstrate a high level of professionalism and commitment to their cause, despite the difficulties they face.
