Ukrainian Defense Forces Achieve Success in Dnipropetrovsk Region

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to showcase impressive results in their fight against Russian occupiers, particularly in the Dnipropetrovsk region, thanks to strategic decisions made by military leadership.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are demonstrating remarkable results in their ongoing battle against Russian occupiers, especially in the Dnipropetrovsk region. A crucial factor in this success has been the decision by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, who opted not to allocate resources for the restoration of positions in the vicinity of Hulyaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region. This information was shared by the commander of the 1st Separate Assault Brigade (OSA), Dmytro (Perun) Filatov, in an interview published on Thursday, April 2, in Ukrainska Pravda.

Filatov noted that instead of focusing on restoring positions, the defense forces transitioned to a defensive mode as much as possible. He emphasized that the freed-up resources were utilized to enhance the tactical position on the flanks, particularly in the area between Hulyaipole and Dnipropetrovsk. According to him, there is a specific ridge of heights with fortifications where Ukrainian troops are currently holding their ground.

The commander of the 1st OSA also reported that the defense forces have nearly liberated the Dnipropetrovsk region from Russian occupiers. He pointed out that there is still a bit of time left to fully free the area, but currently, offensive actions are not being conducted. 'They are taking place... in small separate groups where the conditions are most favorable for this,' Filatov stated.

On March 10, Major General Oleksandr Komarenko, the head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff, announced that the defense forces had almost completely liberated the territories of the Dnipropetrovsk region. He mentioned that there are three small settlements left to 'finish up' and two more to 'clean up.' This indicates that Ukrainian military forces are actively continuing their efforts to reclaim territories.

During an address to the British Parliament on March 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that over the past 30 days, Ukrainian troops have retaken more territory than Russia has captured. This statement underscores the successes of Ukrainian forces in their counteroffensive and their ability to regain control over lost territories.

In an interview with CNN published on March 15, Zelenskyy also noted that Russia was preparing a significant offensive operation; however, the Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to prevent it by launching their counteroffensive. This counteroffensive proved successful, and on March 26, the Ukrainian Airborne Forces reported that during operations in the Oleksandrivsk direction, they liberated nine settlements, restoring control over approximately 440 square kilometers.

On March 30, in an interview with ICTV, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that in the Oleksandrivsk direction, the defense forces had already liberated 480 square kilometers of territory. This reflects the ongoing progress of Ukrainian troops in their fight against the aggressor.

Thus, the situation in the Dnipropetrovsk region remains tense, but Ukrainian forces are demonstrating determination and the capability to achieve significant results in restoring control over the territory. The war between Russia and Ukraine continues, but Ukrainian military personnel are steadfast in their fight for their land and freedom.
