Svyrydenko Introduces Support Tools for Agricultural Business

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced new support tools for the agricultural sector during a recent working meeting with industry representatives, aimed at addressing the pressing issues faced by farmers amid ongoing conflict.

During a recent working meeting with representatives of the agricultural sector, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced a series of new support tools designed to assist the agricultural business. The primary goal of this meeting was to discuss the current challenges that farmers are encountering in the context of war.

Svyrydenko emphasized the resilience of agricultural workers, who continue to operate despite facing shelling, loss of personnel, equipment, and infrastructure. She expressed gratitude for the steadfastness of farmers, who not only maintain production but also support communities, the economy, and the country's food security. "Agricultural workers are operating under shelling, losing people, equipment, and infrastructure, yet they continue to produce, supporting communities, the economy, and food security," she stated.

During the meeting, new support measures for the agricultural sector were introduced, including military risk insurance, which offers compensation of up to 30 million hryvnias for damages incurred. Additionally, farmers can apply for grants for recovery, which can amount to up to 16 million hryvnias for damaged equipment.

Participants also discussed logistics in frontline regions, which is crucial for ensuring the uninterrupted supply of agricultural products. Government officials are working to protect farmers during planting and harvesting seasons, as well as to facilitate the unhindered export of grain and to provide farmers with electronic warfare (EW) resources.

Moreover, the government is considering compensation for losses associated with the construction of fortifications on agricultural lands. Bill No. 14117, which addresses these issues, has successfully passed its first reading in the relevant committee and is now awaiting consideration in the session hall.

The meeting also covered European integration changes that are significant for the agricultural sector. Specifically, discussions included environmental requirements, environmental impact assessments, and tax regulations. The Prime Minister instructed officials to ensure ongoing dialogue with the business community to formulate a negotiating position regarding Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

"A particular focus is on farmers in the 20-kilometer zone from the front line. We are forming a list of territories in the State Agricultural Register and targeted support programs," Svyrydenko added, highlighting the importance of supporting farmers in the most vulnerable regions.

As reported by Ukrinform, a list of evaluators for the military risk insurance program has already been established in Ukraine, marking a significant step in supporting the agricultural sector amid the war.
