Los Angeles Court Sentences Jasvin Sangha to 15 Years for Ketamine Distribution Leading to Matthew Perry's Death

On April 8, 2025, a Los Angeles court sentenced Jasvin Sangha, known as the 'Ketamine Queen,' to 15 years in prison following her conviction for distributing ketamine that resulted in the tragic death of actor Matthew Perry, who died from an overdose in October 2023.

On April 8, 2025, a Los Angeles court reached a verdict in the case of Jasvin Sangha, infamously dubbed the 'Ketamine Queen,' sentencing her to 15 years in prison. This ruling came after Sangha was found guilty of distributing ketamine, which led to the untimely and tragic death of actor Matthew Perry, who succumbed to an overdose in October 2023.

Sangha was convicted on multiple counts, including one charge related to the distribution of ketamine that resulted in death or serious bodily injury, alongside three additional counts for the illegal sale of the drug. Furthermore, she faced charges for maintaining a premises for drug trafficking. Notably, until August 2025, Jasvin Sangha had long maintained her innocence but ultimately changed her stance.

During the court proceedings, Sangha expressed remorse for her involvement in Perry's death. She stated, 'I take full responsibility for my actions. It was a terrible choice that ultimately turned tragic.' These words reflect her acknowledgment of the gravity of her actions and their consequences.

Jasvin Sangha is one of five individuals charged in connection with Matthew Perry's death. The case also includes doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, Perry's assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, and dealer Eric Fleming. In December 2025, Mark Chavez from San Diego was sentenced to eight months of house arrest and three years of supervised incarceration, while Salvador Plasencia received a sentence of over two years in prison.

At present, Kenneth Iwamasa and Eric Fleming have yet to receive their sentences, with their trial expected later this month. This case has garnered significant public attention, as Matthew Perry was a well-known actor, famously recognized as a star of the hit television series 'Friends,' and his death came as a shock to many.

Matthew Perry was found dead on October 28, 2023, in the jacuzzi of his home in the Los Angeles area. Initially, forensic experts were unable to determine the cause of the actor's death, but it was only in December 2023 that it was revealed Perry died due to the severe effects of ketamine. This drug, as noted by the BBC, is used to treat depression, anxiety, and pain.

Perry, who had struggled with drug addiction and depression for many years, had been receiving ketamine as part of his treatment. However, he soon began to demand more of the drug, which ultimately led him to connections with drug dealers. This tragedy serves as yet another reminder of the serious consequences of drug use and the importance of responsible management of mental health treatments.
