Finalists of the Ukrainian First League Basketball Playoffs Revealed

The Ukrainian Basketball Federation (FBU) has announced the finalists of the First League playoffs, with 'Chaika-VMU' and 'Polissya-Zhytomyr Polytechnic-ODYUSSH' securing their spots in the final.

In a thrilling first semifinal match, the Odessa team 'Chaika-VMU' confidently triumphed over the home team 'IFNTUNH-Academy Hoverla' with a decisive score of 99-71. The game unfolded in a tense atmosphere, showcasing a high level of play from both teams. The quarter scores were as follows: 21-14, 41-24, 22-20, and 15-13.

Key players for 'Chaika' included three standout basketball players, each scoring 21 points: Ihor Starodub, Maksym Lutsenko, and Robert Mora. Their cohesive play and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities were crucial to the team's success in this match.

The second finalist of the First League is 'Polissya-Zhytomyr Polytechnic-ODYUSSH', which snatched victory from 'KDYUSH-Pivdenne' in a dramatic contest, finishing with a score of 89-87. This match was equally intense, with quarter scores of 26-23, 18-20, 28-26, and 17-18. The leader of 'Polissya', Vadym Dovidnyi, emerged as the hero of the encounter, freeing himself from the opponent's defense and making the winning shot with just 0.9 seconds left on the clock, securing a vital win for his team.

Although 'KDYUSH-Pivdenne' had a chance to seize victory, Ivan Ivashov failed to convert a three-point shot in the final second, leaving them without a chance for success. Vadym Dovidnyi, in addition to his winning shot, also contributed significantly with 22 points and 8 assists. Vladyslav Lukinsky demonstrated an impressive performance, achieving a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Dmytro Holovchik added 19 points to the team's total. All starting players for 'KDYUSH-Pivdenne' scored over 10 points, with Anatoliy Konev leading the team with 30 points.

In the consolation matches for 5th to 8th places, the team 'Uzhhorod-KZ DYUSSH' defeated 'Khmelnytskyi-2-DYUSSH-3' with a score of 86-75, while 'Rivne-OSDYUSSHOR' overcame 'Kyiv-Basket-2' with a score of 81-73. These matches also showcased a high level of play and the teams' determination to fight for better positions in the final standings.
