Easter is not just a celebration; it's a time for preparing delicious dishes that bring families together around the festive table. One of the most cherished traditions is baking Easter breads. Today, we invite you to try two variations of this delightful treat: one with candied fruits and white icing, and the other with cranberries and chocolate. These fluffy, soft, and incredibly tasty breads will undoubtedly become a highlight of your festive table, and you will not regret trying to make them.
To start, you will need the following ingredients, which are sufficient for two breads weighing 500 grams each or four weighing 250 grams: milk, yeast, flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, eggs, egg yolks, and butter. Before you begin, prepare all the necessary ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
The first step in the preparation is activating the yeast. Pour the milk into a bowl, add the yeast, cover the mixture with plastic wrap, and let it sit for a few minutes. While the yeast is activating, mix the flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt in another bowl. This step is crucial as it lays the foundation for your dough.
Once the yeast begins to work, add it to the dry mixture along with the eggs and egg yolks. Then pour in the milk with the yeast and knead the dough. When the dough becomes homogeneous, add the butter and continue kneading until smooth. Next, let the dough rise for 30 minutes, and then knead it again to activate the yeast.
The next step is to divide the dough into two parts. Add candied fruits to one part and cranberries to the other. After that, place the dough into molds, leaving 2-3 cm from the edge so it can rise during baking.
Now it's time to bake. Place the molds with the dough in a preheated oven at a temperature of 160 degrees Celsius and bake for 15-20 minutes. You can check the readiness of the breads using a skewer: if it comes out dry after being inserted into the bread, it means the dough is ready.
While the breads are baking, you can prepare the icing. For this, beat the egg whites with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. For the chocolate icing, melt the chocolate in a water bath with the addition of oil, then let it cool to a warm state. This will add a special flavor and aroma to your icing.
When the breads have cooled, dip each one into the respective types of icing: the bread with candied fruits into the white icing, and the bread with cranberries into the chocolate icing. After that, decorate them with sprinkles or decorations of your choice. This will give your baked goods a festive appearance.
Finally, if desired, wrap the finished breads in parchment paper and tie them with string or ribbon. This is not only beautiful but also convenient for storage. Now you are ready to enjoy delicious breads that will truly adorn your Easter celebration.
