On Saturday, October 21, it was announced that six more children have been successfully returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region. This information was confirmed by Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration. The return of these children was made possible through the efforts of Ukrainian authorities and humanitarian organizations working to restore the rights of children who have found themselves in difficult circumstances due to military actions.
Among the returned children is a 13-year-old boy who has endured significant loss: he lost his father and subsequently his mother, leaving him alone in the temporarily occupied territory. The absence of relatives nearby forced him to enter the Novokyivsk Social Rehabilitation Center for Minors, where he received the necessary support. Now, according to Prokudin, the boy is safe and will finally be able to reunite with his sister, marking an important step in restoring family ties.
Additionally, two brothers, aged 13 and 16, were also returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory. After the death of their parents, they had remained under the temporary guardianship of a cousin in order to avoid separation and placement in a specialized institution. Despite the boys clearly expressing their desire to reunite with their sister, representatives from the child services in the temporarily occupied territory and the police exerted psychological pressure on them, attempting to change their decision. Now, the brothers will be able to stay under their sister's guardianship, ensuring them a safe and protected environment.
Furthermore, a 14-year-old boy was reunited with his mother, whom he had not seen for over four years. This emotional reunion was made possible thanks to the efforts of Ukrainian authorities who are working to return children to families where they can receive love and support.
At present, all returned children are safe and receiving the necessary assistance. Authorities continue to work to ensure the safety of children who have found themselves in difficult situations due to the war and to provide them with the opportunity to return to normal life. This is a significant step in restoring the rights of children affected by the conflict and is evidence that the efforts of the state in this direction are yielding positive results.
