Former Spanish national team player and Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos recently shared a heartfelt video on Instagram urging society to support children growing up in war conditions. In the video, he addresses a 13-year-old boy from Kyiv named Taras, who dreams of becoming a professional footballer despite the horrors he faces daily.

In his post, Ramos emphasized that Taras's reality includes sirens, shelters, and constant fear, yet the boy continues to pursue his goal. "I want to share Taras's story. He is 13 years old, lives in Kyiv, and dreams of becoming a professional footballer. But his reality is sirens, shelters, and fear. Nevertheless, he keeps moving forward," Ramos stated.

The athlete also highlighted the importance of sports in the lives of young people, noting that it fosters resilience, hope, and a sense of belonging. "His story shows that sports are more than just a game. Watch, share, and support UNICEF so they can continue to protect children growing up in war around the world," he added.

This call to action from Ramos is part of his active stance in supporting Ukrainians during the ongoing conflict. It is worth noting that the last club of the 39-year-old Spaniard was Mexican side Monterrey, from which he departed in early December 2025. To date, Sergio has not announced his retirement from professional football, leaving the door open for a potential return to the pitch.

Ramos boasts significant experience in professional football, having spent 16 years at Real Madrid from 2005 to 2021, winning 22 titles with the club, including five La Liga championships and four Champions League victories. He played a record 180 matches for the Spanish national team, scoring 23 goals. Ramos also became a World Champion in 2010 and a European Champion in 2008 and 2012. He officially concluded his national team career in 2023.

Furthermore, Ramos has previously demonstrated his support for Ukraine by selling exclusive hoodies, with proceeds directed towards aiding Ukrainians during the war. His active stance and support for children suffering from the consequences of war underscore the importance of social responsibility and humanitarian aid in today's world.

Ramos's call to action serves as an important reminder that sports can be a powerful tool for raising awareness about social issues and supporting those in need. In times of war, as exemplified by Taras, children require our support and protection to dream and achieve their goals.
