SBU Detains FSB Agent in Donetsk Who Coordinated Russian Airstrikes on Kramatorsk
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has announced the detention of a Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) agent in the Donetsk region, who was reportedly involved in coordinating airstrikes by Russian forces on the strategic city of Kramatorsk.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has revealed the arrest of an agent from the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) within the Donetsk region. According to the Ukrainian intelligence agency, this individual was engaged in coordinating air attacks by Russian military forces targeting Kramatorsk, which holds significant strategic importance for Ukraine.
As reported by the SBU press service on Monday, April 6, the arrest was part of an operation aimed at identifying and neutralizing hostile agents that pose a threat to Ukraine's national security. Information obtained by the SBU indicates that the detained individual actively monitored the locations of personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which served as the basis for planning Russian strikes.
Specifically, the FSB agent collected data on potential targets for attacks, including the use of 1.5-ton FAB-1500 aerial bombs with a guided module. The Security Service of Ukraine emphasized that the detained individual was tasked not only with coordinating airstrikes but also with identifying and relaying the coordinates of logistical warehouses containing weapons, ammunition, and military supplies of Ukrainian forces.
SBU operatives conducted a phased documentation of the arrested individual's intelligence activities, which enabled them to gather sufficient evidence for his detention. It is known that the recruited FSB agent was a local unemployed individual who came to the attention of the Russian security service through Telegram channels dedicated to finding 'easy money' in October 2025.
To gather intelligence, the agent traversed the area, and upon discovering military sites, marked their geolocations on Google Maps and saved relevant screenshots on his personal smartphone. This method allowed him to effectively transmit information to his FSB handlers.
Furthermore, as noted by the SBU, the agent also subtly inquired about the defenders of Donetsk during casual conversations with acquaintances, indicating his active participation in hostile activities. During searches of the detainee's residence, a mobile phone was seized, which contained evidence of his collaboration with Russian forces.
The SBU investigators have announced charges against the detainee under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which stipulates liability for treason in conditions of martial law. Under this article, the perpetrator faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation, highlighting the severity of his criminal actions.
This situation further underscores the importance of the Security Service of Ukraine's efforts in combating hostile agents and preventing threats to national security, especially in the context of the ongoing war. The SBU continues to actively work on identifying and neutralizing all those who seek to harm Ukraine.
