SBU Introduces New Short Hotline Number
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched a new short hotline number, 1516, enabling Ukrainians to report suspicious activities for free from any landline or mobile phone across the country.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has introduced a new short hotline number, 1516, which allows citizens to report suspicious activities without charge from any landline or mobile phone across the nation. According to reports from Ukrinform, this initiative comes in response to the increasing activity of Russian intelligence services attempting to recruit Ukrainians for terrorist acts, sabotage, arson, and other illegal activities.
The SBU emphasizes the importance of vigilance among citizens during these challenging times. They urge Ukrainians to remain alert and to immediately report any suspicious activities via the new hotline. Specifically, individuals should reach out to 1516 if they have information regarding the preparation of terrorist acts, acts of sabotage, or other illegal actions, especially if strangers are offering to set fires, transfer unknown items, stalk individuals or vehicles, or if they discover suspicious objects or individuals.
Furthermore, if citizens become aware of online resources being utilized by the enemy for recruitment purposes or possess any other information regarding the activities of Russian intelligence services, they are encouraged to contact the hotline. All information received will be thoroughly verified, and confidentiality of the reports is guaranteed.
The Security Service of Ukraine also reminds the public that they can reach out through other communication channels. This includes the available chatbot “Burn the FSB Agent” at t.me/spaly_fsb_bot, as well as the email address callcenter@ssu.gov.ua. Additionally, the previous hotline number, 0 800 501 482, remains operational.
This measure is part of the SBU's efforts to ensure the safety of citizens and counter threats posed by Russian intelligence services. Earlier reports indicated that the SBU detained a builder from Irpin in the Kyiv region, who was registering Starlink satellite terminals at the behest of Russian intelligence services. This incident underscores the critical importance of active cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism and other crimes.
The SBU calls on all Ukrainians to be attentive and not to remain indifferent to potential threats. Engaging the public in the process of ensuring security can significantly enhance the protection of the country and its citizens.
