SBU and Drone Forces Strike Key Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant for the Second Time

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Drone Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine executed a drone strike on the Alchevsk metallurgical plant, marking the second such attack this month, as reported by the SBU on Saturday, April 4.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Drone Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have conducted a drone strike on the Alchevsk metallurgical plant, which has occurred for the second time this month. This information was disclosed by the SBU on Saturday, April 4.

The Alchevsk metallurgical plant is a key industrial facility utilized by Russia to support its military-industrial complex. According to the SBU, the plant supplies materials for the Russian Uralvagonzavod, which is involved in the production of military equipment, including the T-90M 'Proryv' tanks and the Msta-S self-propelled howitzers.

Ukrainian forces identified critically important production units before deploying Fire Point FP-2 drones to strike the plant. The attack resulted in damage to blast furnaces, key production shops, distillation columns, gas pipelines, and electrical substations. As a result of the inflicted damage, the plant has reportedly suspended its operations.

The operation in Alchevsk is part of a series of large-scale long-range strikes on Russian industrial targets. Earlier that evening, drones attacked the city of Tolyatti in the Samara region, hitting two major chemical plants—TolyattiKaukuK and KuybyshevAzot. It was noted that one worker sustained injuries during this attack, which also caused several loud explosions and restricted transport movement in the northern industrial hub of the city.

These strikes occurred following a significant fire on April 2 at the Bashneft-Novoil oil refinery in Ufa, located approximately 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) from the Ukrainian border. Although Russian authorities claimed that air defense systems intercepted the drones, falling debris ignited a fire in the industrial area and temporarily shut down the city's airport.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified its campaign against Russian energy and industrial infrastructure, as evidenced by market data. These actions are part of a broader strategy aimed at destroying the resources that support Russia's military operations in Ukraine.
