SBU and Armed Forces of Ukraine Halt Operations at Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant with Drone Strikes

In a decisive move against Russian military production, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in collaboration with the Drone Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has conducted a drone strike on the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant, a key industrial facility in occupied Luhansk. This operation marks the second strike on the plant within a month, underscoring the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian forces to disrupt enemy supply chains.

According to the SBU, the strike was executed by personnel from the Main Directorate of the SBU in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, alongside comrades from the 1st Separate Center of Drone Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant is identified as a crucial asset utilized by Russian occupiers to support their military manufacturing capabilities.

The plant's products are reportedly supplied to the Russian Uralvagonzavod, a facility known for producing military equipment for the Russian Army, including the T-90M 'Proryv' tanks and Msta-S howitzers. This connection highlights the strategic importance of the Alchevsk facility in the broader context of the ongoing conflict.

Following the identification of critical production capacities at the plant, drone strikes were launched using FP-2 drones manufactured by Fire Point. The precision of these strikes aimed to minimize collateral damage while maximizing the impact on the plant's operational capabilities.

As a result of the drone strikes, significant damage was inflicted on various components of the plant, including blast furnaces, key production workshops, distillation columns, gas pipelines, and electrical substations that are essential for the plant's operations. The extent of the damage has led to a complete halt in the plant's activities, marking a significant blow to the Russian military's logistical capabilities.

Prior to this operation, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported that the 'March campaign' of the Ukrainian Defense Forces has been one of the most extensive in terms of the number of strategic Russian enterprises targeted. This campaign has seen the destruction of five factories and ten oil refining facilities, indicating a concerted effort to undermine the Russian war machine.

Moreover, the drone strike on the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant resulted in a large-scale fire at the facility, further complicating the situation for the occupiers.
