The detentions were confirmed to Suspilne by the regional enlistment office, which said the incident involved personnel from one of Odesa’s territorial recruitment and social support centers (TCC), basically an enlisted personnel induction center. Authorities have not yet officially disclosed the reasons for the arrests. Earlier, local outlet Dumskaya reported that the incident occurred on Balkivska Street and involved a pursuit and gunfire during what it described as an SBU operation. Dumskaya, citing unnamed sources, reported that the detained individuals were allegedly involved in attempting to extort tens of thousands of dollars from a man who had legal grounds for deferment from military service. The outlet also reported that the man had contacted the SBU in advance, which led to a coordinated operation. These details have not been independently confirmed by Ukrainian authorities.
