Ruslan Rotan, Head Coach of Polissya, Denies Rumors of Possible Appointment as Ukraine National Football Team Coach

Ruslan Rotan, the head coach of the football club Polissya, has addressed recent rumors regarding his potential appointment as the coach of the Ukraine national football team, stating that he is fully focused on his current role.

The head coach of the Polissya football club, Ruslan Rotan, who has recently become the subject of speculation regarding a possible appointment as the coach of the Ukraine national football team, has decided to clarify the situation. In his comments, he emphasized that he is currently completely focused on the development and success of his club, rather than on the rumors surrounding his career.

The 44-year-old specialist expressed his surprise at the rumors that have surfaced in the media. "I don't know where such rumors come from. You know, I was with the national team not so long ago," Rotan stated, recalling his experience with the national team. He served as the head coach of the Ukraine national team during the first match of the Euro 2024 qualifiers against England, which took place on March 26, 2023, and ended in a 0-2 defeat.

Rotan stressed that his priority is his work at Polissya: "I am currently focused on my work at the club. We have a very cool project and there is a lot to build. Therefore, maximum focus is needed here. It is extremely important to work for the benefit of our Polissya now. We have something to prove in the Ukrainian championship and we need to fight for prize places," the publication Ukrainian Football quoted him as saying.

It is worth noting that the contract of the current head coach of the Ukraine national team, Serhiy Rebrov, expires this summer. Under his leadership, the national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, losing in the playoff qualifiers to the Swedish team with a score of 1-3.

Ruslan Rotan has been leading Polissya since 2025. Previously, he achieved significant success while coaching Oleksandriya, with whom he earned silver medals in the Ukrainian Premier League. Rotan also managed the youth and Olympic teams of Ukraine, reaching the semifinals of Euro 2023 with the youth team.

It should be noted that earlier, Serhiy Rebrov reacted emotionally to questions about his possible resignation following Ukraine's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, as well as outlining the reasons for the defeat in the match against Sweden. This situation sparked significant resonance within the football community, as the future of the national team and its coach became the subject of active discussions.

Thus, despite the rumors regarding a possible appointment as the head coach of the Ukraine national team, Ruslan Rotan remains committed to his club Polissya, with whom he plans to achieve new heights in the championship.
