Ukrainian Intelligence Reveals List of Foreign Equipment Used in Russian Military-Industrial Complex

Ukrainian military intelligence has released new information regarding foreign equipment that is actively utilized in the Russian military-industrial complex (MIC). This list highlights the critical reliance of Russia's defense industry on foreign technologies.

The military intelligence of Ukraine has made public a new report detailing foreign equipment that is currently in use within the Russian military-industrial complex (MIC). According to a statement from the intelligence press service, this list encompasses a variety of technological tools that are essential for the operation of Russia's defense industry.

Among the updated list, one can find lathes, milling machines, and grinding machines, as well as computer numerical control (CNC) machining centers. Additionally, the inventory includes equipment for the production of printed circuit boards, vibration test stands, and temperature chambers. It is noteworthy that this equipment originates from well-known manufacturers in Germany, Japan, Taiwan, Austria, Switzerland, and other countries, underscoring the critical dependence of the Russian MIC on foreign technologies.

The updated list also features equipment from 15 additional enterprises within the Russian MIC, including manufacturers of components for the 9M727 cruise missiles used in the Iskander operational-tactical complex. Specifically, the Tambov plant 'Elektronpribor', the Volga Electromechanical Plant, and the joint-stock company 'Orbita' are included in this list. These enterprises are currently not subject to sanctions from any of the countries in the sanction coalition, raising concerns about the effectiveness of international measures against Russia.

It is important to note that the Russian military-industrial complex continues its operations due to access to foreign technologies. This occurs, in part, through the supply of equipment and components via third countries, as well as through inadequate control over the end-users. Consequently, even with the presence of sanctions, Russian manufacturers are not deterred from acquiring the necessary technologies to sustain their defense industry.

In light of this, Ukrainian military intelligence emphasizes the importance of strengthening control over the export of sensitive technologies. Among the proposed measures is the mandatory use of GPS trackers, without which the equipment would be rendered inoperable. Additionally, it is suggested that manufacturer representatives conduct on-site inspections at the declared installation locations of the equipment, enabling oversight of its usage.

Moreover, it is critically important to restrict the supply of spare parts, technical fluids, and software to Russia. Without these elements, even already installed equipment would be unable to function for an extended period, which could significantly impact the capability of the Russian MIC to fulfill its functions.

It is worth recalling that earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine also published a list of foreign equipment used by Russian shipbuilding and ship repair yards to service the Russian Navy. This information once again confirms the importance of international cooperation in combating Russian aggression and the necessity of controlling the export of technologies.
