Russian Drone Strike in Nikopol Claims 5 Lives, 19 Injured Including Teenager
A deadly drone strike by Russian forces in the city of Nikopol on Saturday, April 4, resulted in the deaths of five individuals and left 19 others injured, including a 14-year-old girl in critical condition.
Russian troops launched a fatal FPV drone strike on the city of Nikopol on Saturday, April 4, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives and injuring 19 others. This information was confirmed by Oleksandr Hancha, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration.
Among the deceased were three women and two men. The injured included a 14-year-old girl who was hospitalized in serious condition. The strike caused a fire and inflicted significant damage to several commercial pavilions and a local store, Hancha noted in his message on Telegram.
This deadly attack in Nikopol occurred amid a surge in assaults across southern and central Ukraine. In Kherson, Russian artillery struck residential buildings in the Korabelnyi district late Friday. Two women, aged 31 and 53, sustained shrapnel wounds and concussions. Local authorities reported that approximately 100 windows were shattered in a neighboring high-rise building due to the shelling.
These attacks coincided with a nationwide drone offensive that took place overnight. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force, Russia launched 286 drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas, from multiple positions within Russian territory.
Ukrainian air defense units intercepted 260 of these drones; however, several strikes still caused significant damage in other regions.
In Sumy, an enemy drone hit the 13th floor of a 16-story residential building. The number of injured in the city rose to 13, including one child. More than 300 windows were shattered across four residential blocks as a result of the attack.
In other news, Ukrainian drones struck chemical facilities in the Russian region of Samara, igniting fires at the TolyattiKauguq and KuibyshevAzot plants, as Kyiv expands its campaign of deep strikes.
Debris from drones caused a fire on the roof of a four-story office building in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. Currently, no casualties have been reported in the capital.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, prior to the strike on Nikopol, more than 20 attacks were recorded, indicating a rise in tensions in the area and posing a threat to the civilian population.
