Russian Drone Damages National Military Memorial Cemetery in Kyiv Region

On April 3, during a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, a Russian drone caused damage to the National Military Memorial Cemetery located in the village of Hatne, Kyiv region. Fortunately, the incident occurred between burial ceremonies, resulting in no casualties.

On April 3, during a large-scale combined attack on the territory of Ukraine, a Russian drone inflicted damage on the National Military Memorial Cemetery, situated in the village of Hatne in the Kyiv region. Representatives of the memorial reported that the incident occurred between burial ceremonies, thankfully resulting in no injuries or fatalities.

The drone attack partially damaged the administrative building, technical water storage tanks, the fence, and other infrastructure elements of the memorial. This act of aggression has sparked outrage among Ukrainians, as the memorial serves as a sacred site for honoring the memory of fallen defenders.

"Today, after the burial ceremonies for unidentified defenders of Ukraine at the National Military Memorial Cemetery, Russian forces once again committed a cynical act of terrorism. Prior to the next ceremony—a burial of the urn containing the ashes of a Ukrainian Hero—a hostile UAV was recorded falling on the territory where the National Memorial is under construction," stated representatives of the memorial.

It is worth noting that the burial sites of Ukrainian heroes at the cemetery were not damaged, which is a positive aspect in this tragic situation. However, the very fact of the attack on the memorial has raised deep concerns among the public.

"Russia once again demonstrates its true nature, attempting to strike not only at the living but also at places of memory. At places where the state and all Ukrainians honor their defenders. In spaces of silence, respect, and dignity. But these barbaric acts will bring nothing to the aggressor except shame. We will promptly restore all damages and continue to fulfill our duty—to bid farewell to our defenders with dignity and honor every Ukrainian warrior," added the National Military Memorial Cemetery.

This incident is part of a broader picture of ongoing aggression from Russia. According to the Ukrainian Air Forces, over the course of April 2, Russia launched a total of more than 500 drones and 37 missiles against Ukraine. The regions of Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, and Vinnytsia were under attack, indicating the scale of the assaults.

In the city of Vyshneve in the Kyiv region, unfortunately, one person lost their life. In the village of Chabany, a drone struck near a veterinary clinic, resulting in the death of seven animals. These events further underscore the horrific consequences of the war for the civilian population and infrastructure.

The National Military Memorial Cemetery, as a symbol of memory and respect for the fallen, continues to remain an important place for Ukrainians who honor their heroes. Despite the aggression, Ukrainians continue to fight for their independence and the memory of those who gave their lives for freedom.
