Russian FPV Drone Strikes Bus During Rush Hour, Eight Dead and 52 Injured Across Ukraine

On April 7, 2026, in central Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian FPV drone intentionally struck a passenger bus during rush hour, leading to the deaths of at least three individuals and injuring 16 others. According to information from Governor Oleksandr Hanzhy, an earlier attack in the region had already claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy, with five additional injuries reported. This incident is part of a wider series of attacks that have continued throughout the night and into the morning, targeting civilians and critical infrastructure.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba commented on these events, labeling them as "deliberate Russian terror against peaceful cities and civilians." The bus attack occurred around 9:00 AM when the drone, operated by a Russian controller, struck the vehicle transporting people to work.

In addition, a Russian nighttime assault on Odesa resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a child, while at least ten others sustained injuries. Kuleba indicated that there is a possibility that more people may be trapped under the rubble. Russian forces have targeted residential buildings, critical infrastructure, and administrative institutions. The attacks resulted in damage to a multi-story residential building, private homes, and fires in residential areas, dormitories, childcare facilities, and vehicles.

Over the past 24 hours, six individuals have been injured due to Russian attacks in the Kharkiv region, as the city of Kharkiv and 12 other settlements came under fire, local authorities reported. In the Donetsk region, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin, at least one person has died, and ten others were injured as a result of Russian assaults. In the Zaporizhzhia region, five men were also injured due to the attacks.

In one of the nighttime assaults, three men were injured. Later in the morning, two more individuals were hurt. Among the injured was a 73-year-old man who was struck by a Russian FPV drone that hit his vehicle, causing damage. A 39-year-old man was also injured, and a residential building was damaged in the attack.

As of 11:30 AM, the Chernihiv region experienced Russian attacks, with administrative buildings catching fire in Pryluky and Novhorod-Siverskyi, as reported by Suspilne. In Pryluky, a strike hit the city center, igniting the city council building during an executive committee meeting, with local residents reporting at least three explosions.

In Novhorod-Siverskyi, the attack damaged the State Tax Service building, as well as residential homes and private vehicles. Information regarding casualties is currently unavailable as emergency services continue their work.

Overall, according to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 110 long-range drones overnight, of which 77 were shot down. Parts of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions remain temporarily without electricity due to the Russian attacks, the Ministry of Energy reported.
