Russian Forces Attack DTEK Energy Facility in Odesa Region, Casualties Reported

On Monday, April 6, Russian military forces struck an energy facility owned by DTEK in the Odesa region, resulting in significant destruction and casualties.

On Monday, April 6, Russian military forces launched an attack on an energy facility operated by DTEK, located in the Odesa region of Ukraine. Representatives from the company reported that the assault led to considerable damage to the infrastructure.

On the same morning, energy workers managed to restore electricity supply to critical infrastructure and nearly three thousand households. However, despite these efforts, an additional 16,700 families remain without electricity in parts of the Primorsky, Khadzhybei, and Kyiv districts of Odesa.

'The destruction is significant, and recovery will require time,' stated DTEK officials, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the need for extensive work to restore power supply.

As a result of a nighttime attack by Shahed drones in Odesa, which occurred on the night of April 6, three individuals were killed, including a child. Furthermore, ten others sustained injuries, with two in critical condition and eight in moderate condition. Among the injured are a two-year-old child and teenagers aged 17 and 18.

Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported severe damage to critical infrastructure and administrative buildings. The attack caused fires in residential areas, a dormitory, and on the grounds of a children's institution. As a result, four individuals were rescued from the rubble.

Rescue operations in Odesa are ongoing, and according to Kiper, there may still be people trapped under the debris, raising additional concerns among local authorities and rescuers.

This attack is part of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has persisted for over a year. Military actions continue to inflict damage not only on military targets but also on civilian infrastructure, leading to numerous casualties among the civilian population.

Odesa, as a vital port city in southern Ukraine, faces constant attacks, jeopardizing not only energy security but also the overall stability of the region. Local residents continue to suffer from the consequences of military actions, struggling to restore their daily lives amid the ongoing war.

In light of these events, Ukrainian authorities are calling on the international community for support and assistance to counter aggression and ensure the safety of citizens.
