Russian Drone Strikes Claim Two Lives, Injure Several Civilians Across Five Regions

On Sunday, April 5, Russian military forces intensified their aerial assault on Ukrainian civilian targets, leading to tragic consequences that included the loss of at least two lives and injuries to numerous others in different parts of the country. The relentless drone strikes have raised alarm among local authorities and citizens alike, as the conflict continues to escalate.

In the city of Nikopol, located in the Dnipropetrovsk region, an FPV drone strike claimed the life of one individual, while a 60-year-old woman was reported to be in 'extremely serious' condition following the attack. Alexander Ganjia, the head of the regional military administration, confirmed that the drone strike also destroyed a civilian vehicle, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of these assaults on non-combatants.

This incident occurred just 24 hours after a significant attack on a market in Nikopol, which resulted in the deaths of five people, underscoring the ongoing threat faced by civilians in the area. The frequency and intensity of these attacks have raised concerns about the safety and security of the local population.

In the Chernihiv region, a man born in 1985 was killed during an evening drone attack in the community of Snovsk. Vyacheslav Chaus, the head of the Chernihiv regional military administration, reported that 'Geran' drones targeted an agricultural enterprise and a vehicle delivering bread. The strikes ignited a five-hectare grass fire and caused damage to residential properties. Over the past day, the region recorded 52 shellings and 80 explosions, further illustrating the severity of the situation.

The southern part of Ukraine also felt the impact of the Russian offensive. In the Kherson region, a 40-year-old woman sustained injuries in Chornobayivka on Sunday morning after a drone dropped an explosive device. She was hospitalized with head injuries and a concussion, adding to the growing list of civilian casualties.

Meanwhile, in the Mykolaiv region, a couple—a 45-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman—sustained moderate injuries during a drone strike on the community of Berezneguvate. The head of the region, Vitaliy Kim, reported that air defense systems intercepted six drones over the area, although debris from the intercepted drones caused fires in the city of Mykolaiv, further exacerbating the situation.

These events unfold against the backdrop of escalating conflict, as Russian forces continue to strike civilian objects throughout Ukraine. According to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia launched 93 drones, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the threat posed by this new form of aggression.
