Russian Occupiers Strike Energy Facilities in Chernihiv Region

In a series of attacks on energy facilities in the Chernihiv region, Russian occupiers caused widespread power outages affecting most areas. The head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, reported four strikes resulting from enemy fire.

In the early hours of Monday, April 6, Russian occupiers launched a series of attacks on energy facilities in the Chernihiv region, leading to power outages across the majority of the area. Vyacheslav Chaus, the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that four strikes were recorded as a result of enemy bombardments.

Chaus emphasized the urgent need for alternative power sources for critical infrastructure, stating, "Chernihiv and its communities are transitioning to alternative energy sources where necessary," highlighting the importance of maintaining electricity supply during wartime.

Energy workers have already begun preparations for restoration efforts; however, the implementation of these plans is contingent on the security situation in the region. During the night, Chernihivoblenergo reported that an energy facility in the Novgorod-Siversky district was damaged due to the enemy attack, resulting in over 10,000 subscribers in the area losing power.

Subsequently, it was revealed that the Russian attack also inflicted damage on a crucial energy facility in the Nizhyn district. According to energy officials, 340,000 subscribers in the cities of Chernihiv and Pryluky, as well as in the Chernihiv and Pryluky districts, experienced power outages.

Additionally, another significant energy facility in the Chernihiv district was damaged as a result of the attacks, leading to power outages for over 76,000 subscribers in the Chernihiv and Koryukivka districts. This information was confirmed by Chernihivoblenergo, which underscored the seriousness of the situation.

According to data from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of April 6, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 141 strike drones, including types such as Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and others. As of 08:00, Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or suppressed 114 enemy drones. There were reports of 26 strike drones hitting 17 locations, as well as debris from downed drones falling in 13 locations.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned, "The attack is ongoing, and several enemy UAVs are in the airspace," urging the population to remain cautious and adhere to safety measures.

This situation is part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has resulted in significant infrastructure damage and serious consequences for the civilian population. Authorities and energy companies are doing everything possible to restore electricity supply; however, the security situation remains critical.
