On April 4, 2023, a civilian was killed and two others injured due to Russian military shelling in Donetsk, as reported by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, in a Facebook post relayed by the Ukrinform agency.

On April 4, 2023, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine took a tragic turn as one civilian lost their life and two others sustained injuries from Russian military shelling in the Donetsk region. This grim update was shared by Vadym Filashkin, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, in a post on Facebook, which was subsequently reported by the Ukrinform news agency.

Filashkin detailed that the fatal incident occurred in the city of Kostiantynivka, where a local resident was killed as a result of enemy fire. He also noted that two additional individuals were injured throughout the day, both of whom required medical assistance due to the severity of their wounds.

These events are part of the ongoing aggression by Russian forces against Ukraine, which has persisted since the onset of the full-scale invasion. According to data released by Filashkin, since the beginning of the war, a staggering 4,021 individuals have lost their lives in Donetsk, while 9,265 others have been injured. It is important to note that these figures do not include casualties from the cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha, which have also experienced significant losses.

Furthermore, Filashkin reported that on April 4, Russian forces conducted 31 shelling attacks across the Donetsk territory. These assaults resulted in damage to private residential homes as well as multi-story buildings, highlighting the direct threat posed to the civilian population in the area.

The situation in the region remains tense, with local residents continuing to suffer from the relentless shelling. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures, as shelling can occur at any moment, creating an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.

These recent events underscore the critical importance of international support for Ukraine in its fight against aggression and the necessity to continue efforts to protect civilians. The Ukrainian government, alongside various international organizations, is actively working to provide assistance to those affected and to ensure safety in the region.
