Russian Aggressors Strike Naftogaz Facilities for Second Consecutive Day, No Casualties Reported – Company Head
For the second consecutive day, Russian aggressors have launched targeted attacks on the infrastructure of the Naftogaz Group. On Sunday, April 5, Naftogaz Ukraine CEO Serhiy Koretsky reported strikes on facilities in the Poltava and Sumy regions.
For the second consecutive day, Russian aggressors have carried out deliberate attacks on the infrastructure of the Naftogaz Group. On Sunday, April 5, the head of the board of Naftogaz Ukraine, Serhiy Koretsky, announced that strikes had been made on facilities located in the Poltava and Sumy regions.
According to Koretsky, drones targeted a gas extraction facility in Poltava overnight, which had already been shelled the previous day. Additionally, another oil and gas facility in Sumy was also hit. These attacks continue to demonstrate the systematic targeting of critical infrastructure in Ukraine by Russian military forces.
The Naftogaz head further noted that a fire broke out as a result of the attack; however, fortunately, no employees were harmed, as they were sheltered during the shelling. This highlights the effective organization of safety measures at the enterprise, which helped prevent human casualties.
Koretsky added that units from the State Emergency Service (SES) were involved in extinguishing the fire, responding promptly to such incidents. This underscores the importance of cooperation among various services in the face of military threats, as timely responses can preserve not only material assets but also human lives.
It is worth recalling that on April 4, Russian aggressors also launched massive attacks on Naftogaz Group facilities in the Poltava region, leading to the outbreak of a fire. Since the beginning of the year, the Russian Federation has attacked Naftogaz facilities over 40 times, indicating the systematic and deliberate nature of these actions.
These attacks, which target Ukraine's energy infrastructure, raise serious concerns as they could negatively impact the country's energy security. In wartime, when every energy resource is of great significance, such actions can lead to substantial problems in supplying energy to the population and industry.
In light of this, it is crucial for all relevant services to continue working on strengthening the security of critical infrastructure facilities and ensuring timely responses to threats. Only through collective efforts can we counter aggression and protect Ukraine's national interests.
