Russian Attack with Shahed Drones on Kharkiv: Two Women Injured
On the evening of April 5, Ukraine faced another assault from Russian forces utilizing kamikaze drones known as Shaheds, resulting in injuries to two women in Kharkiv.
On the evening of April 5, the territory of Ukraine once again came under attack from Russian military forces, which deployed kamikaze drones known as Shaheds. As a result of the assault in Kharkiv, two women sustained injuries. The air raid alert in the Kharkiv region was lifted at 20:53, but the situation remained tense throughout the day.
According to reports, an air raid alert was declared at 20:44 in the Sumy district of Sumy region, as well as in the Koryukivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi districts of Chernihiv region. This indicates that the aerial threat encompassed a significant portion of northern Ukraine.
At 16:00, the Ukrainian Air Forces warned of the approaching Shaheds towards Kharkiv, and by 16:08 it was reported that drones in Kirovohrad region were moving towards Kropyvnytskyi, while in Poltava region, Shaheds were located near Kremenchuk. This suggests a coordinated effort by Russian troops attempting to inflict damage across multiple regions simultaneously.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed at 16:20 that one of the Shahed drones struck the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city. Just five minutes later, he reported injuries resulting from the impact. According to Oleg Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the drone hit the ground near an apartment building, damaging windows in several neighboring buildings.
Synehubov also noted that a 61-year-old woman experienced an acute stress reaction due to the impact. By 16:40, Terekhov clarified that at least six apartment buildings were damaged in the attack, with broken windows and damaged roofs. Furthermore, a gas pipeline was ruptured, and sewage systems were rendered inoperative.
At 16:46, Terekhov reported a strike in the Slobidskyi district, but later specified that the impact occurred in an open area, causing grass and shrubbery to catch fire; however, there were no casualties or significant destruction. At 17:18, Synehubov added that as a result of the strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district, another woman, aged 89, also suffered an acute stress reaction. He published photos from the impact site, highlighting the severity of the situation.
At 18:22, the Air Forces warned of Shaheds flying towards Zaporizhzhia and Sumy. By 18:33, it was reported that a group of Shaheds was in the vicinity of Holmy in Chernihiv region. At 19:40, the Ukrainian Air Forces confirmed that a group of Shaheds from the Black Sea was moving towards Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
At 20:00, the Air Forces reported several Shaheds in the vicinity of Buialyk and Dobroslav in Odesa region, flying northwest. At 20:15, warnings were also issued regarding Shaheds in the suburbs of Dnipro. As of 20:40, air raid alerts were declared in the Shostka district of Sumy region, as well as in the Kharkiv, Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, and Chuhuiv districts of Kharkiv region.
This situation serves as yet another confirmation of the alarming conditions in Ukraine, where Russian attacks continue to threaten the safety of civilians. Authorities are urging citizens to adhere to safety measures and remain cautious during air raid alerts.
