Russian Army Launches Massive Drone Attack on Ukraine, 77 UAVs Destroyed by Air Defense Forces
In a significant escalation of hostilities, the Russian military executed a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 110 strike drones of various types, with Ukrainian air defense successfully neutralizing 77 of them.
In the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, the Russian army carried out a massive attack on Ukrainian territory, utilizing 110 strike drones of different types, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and others. According to information from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, approximately 70 of these drones were Shaheds, which have been repeatedly employed in aggressive operations against Ukraine.
The assault was launched from multiple directions, including from the territories of Bryansk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), as well as from Gvardeyskoye and Chauda, located in the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and the Donetsk region. This indicates that the Russian military continues to actively employ drones to strike Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
As of the morning of April 7, Ukrainian air defense forces managed to neutralize 77 enemy drones across the northern, southern, and eastern parts of the country. This success was made possible through the coordinated efforts of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which effectively repelled the aerial assault.
It is worth noting that Ukrainian military forces recorded hits from 31 strike UAVs at 14 different locations. Additionally, debris from drones was reported to have fallen in nine locations, indicating that some of the drones managed to breach the air defense system but did not cause significant destruction.
However, Russian drones still remain in Ukrainian airspace, posing a threat to the civilian population. During the night, the Russian army attacked four districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region with drones more than 10 times. Tragically, as a result of these attacks, an 11-year-old boy was killed, and five others sustained injuries. This unfortunate incident underscores the danger that such attacks pose to innocent civilians.
This event serves as yet another testament to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, with the threat from drones remaining a critical concern. The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to work on strengthening the air defense system to protect Ukrainian territories and civilians from enemy attacks. It is essential for the international community to pay attention to these events and support Ukraine in its struggle for independence and security.
